5 Ways To Streamline Your Planning Process
Happy New Year and welcome to 2020. Hopefully you’ve had an opportunity to recharge your batteries and are ready to take the year on with a renewed intensity. Setting your radar and having an idea of what you want to achieve this year is an awesome way to kick off the new year.
“How do I set up a plan for the year when I don’t really know what I want to do” is one of the most common comments we hear at this time of year. Not knowing what you want from you and your business is a bit like getting in the car and not knowing where you would like to go.
So how do you make your planning process one that ensures you are setting yourself up for epic results… here are some tips:
-
Start with what you want
What is it that you really want to be doing this year? Is there a direction you want to take your career or business? Are there collaborations you want to develop? Set out a clear view of what these things are. -
What is that feeling
There’s one thing to have an idea of what you want to do… the power comes from the feeling you get when you make them happen. Tapping in to this feeling will help you take the action you need, to get the results you want so as to experience this feeling. -
Make it Simple
Having a complex document that sets out your 2020 strategic plan can become a barrier to making it all happen. Have a clear and summarised view to allow you and your teams to focus on what’s important. -
Involve the right people
Where decision makers should be included in a discussion regarding plans for their teams…. include them. Too often , a plan is set from the top and the business is expected to “just get on with it”. Include those who can make the plan a more relevant process, adding insights to their areas. -
Communicate
If you want to achieve something this year, make it known. Taking on training, adding new client types, adding a new area are all items that are useful to know when the planning process is happening. Speak up now and look to have it included in the year’s targets.
2020 is here and now is the time to get clear on what you want from the year. If you want to take something on… speak up. If you want to achieve certain targets… get them locked in. If you want to finish the year with that feeling of achievement… now is the time and the planning process needs your insights.
Please forward this to anyone who needs help managing this process. If you need help getting the best result in these circumstances… let’s chat about how we can help.
