journey

“Sometimes we make the process more complicated than we need to. We will never make a journey of a thousand miles by fretting about how long it will take or how hard it will be. We make the journey by taking each day step by step and then repeating it again and again until we reach our destination”. Joseph B. Wirthlin

Over the past week i’ve heard “I couldn’t do that as others expect this from me” far too many times. It’s not their journey and ultimately it’s your decision to take your journey on whatever direction you want to pursue.

Fear of failure tends to be the biggest driver for us to conform to what we believe others with think of us. Ultimately it’s your choice how you create opportunities and what type of leader you choose to be. Taking ownership of what YOU want allows you to make the best decisions to make this happen for you.

3 Tips to Owning your Journey

So how do we take ownership of our own direction? Here are three tips:

  1. Be Authentic – your journey is just that…. yours. Being the leader or business owner you want to be means those around you will be clear and know your expectations. Set your leadership style and be consistent.

  2. Be clear on what you are striving for – your clarity on what you ultimately want to achieve allows you to focus on doing what you need to and engaging those who you need to get there

  3. It’s ok to make mistakes – choosing to constantly take action will get a variety of results. Treat these as a learning process and build your skills to get more wins as a result.

So what are your next steps going to be and how will you use these tips to drive your journey….
