“Always trust the process. I’m a firm believer in that. You know, you keep your eyes on the destination, and of course there will always be detours, but if you’re moving towards it, you will always get there”Bazzi

Looking back at over 24 years working in the Strategy, Finance & Leadership fields, it’s interesting to recognise the times where I got it really right…. and the results that were achieved. And then there are also other times when I managed to create chaos and miss the mark completely. The lessons from both have shaped the way I now help other business owners and organisations.

From making decisions to chase that next bright shiny thing, the opportunity that may not be taking you in the direction you want, but it’s interesting because it’s bright and shiny… to choosing a career path that is aligned with your purpose, your why and what you love to do. These both highlight, with differing results, that focussing on the process will increase the probability of getting quality results.

Here are 3 tips to help you focus on the process rather than purely on the results:

  1. Have a plan and get the steps clear – having limited clarity on where you are going makes it challenging to know what needs to be done to get there. This is why so many business owners and executives become flat and unmotivated as their path is not clear. Set your direction and identify steps to get there.

  2. Be consistent – working through the process means focussing on taking on activities that will keep moving you forward towards your goals. Consistent action taking will ultimately bring the results.

  3. Do the One Percenters (1%) – small actions create momentum. By taking small pieces of action regularly, they start to add up and bring the incremental change and growth you are looking for. This term is commonly used in sporting circles to represent focussing on the next meter, the next moment, the next pitch… it equally applies to business and leadership.

This week, take notice on where your focus is with your business, your career and your life. Do you have your direction clear and do you know how you are going to make it happen? Getting clarity will help you move forward.

Feel empowered to forward on to those in your networks who will also get value from our regular tips. If you want to get clarity & refocus, send us a note at strategy@mentorisgroup.com.au and we’d love to chat about how we can help.

Have an awesome week!
