People and fun can lift your Standards

Over the course of the past two weeks I have learned a LOT about how we treat this thing we can very easily take for granted.... Life.

As you may know, we laid to rest a dear friend on Friday... a true legend of a man. As 1100 people sat in our high school assembly hall, we were given a lesson in how setting our standards high and choosing to take challenges head on can reward you with so much success and happiness.

There are so many messages I have taken out of the past weeks, here are 3 of the most prominent:

# At this time of year, reflect on what you have achieved in 2016. Take time to celebrate your success with those who have helped you succeed.... let them know what part they played and how important it was to have them in your corner. Being a success takes focussing on more than just you !

# Surround yourself with quality people. Setting and meeting high standards is challenging... made even more so when we think we have to do it all on our own. Surrounding yourself with people who want to see you have even more success makes hitting your targets that little bit easier.

# Give yourself permission to have some fun. Being serious 100% of the time is challenging. By choosing to lighten up, it brings happiness in to your day and those around you. By choosing your times to lighten up, you may even help others do the same. Yes a pool toy on the head was my way of lightening up at the cricket :-)

So with Christmas rapidly approaching, this week let's take time to sit back, reflect on what 2016 meant to you and ask whether you want more of the same... or is it time to ramp up what you can achieve in 2017.

Have a Merry Christmas and thank you for all your continued support.

Have an awesome week!
