We all want the freedom to Choose
"Too often in life, something happens and we blame other people for us not being happy or satisfied or fulfilled. So the point is, we all have choices, and we make the choice to accept people or situations or to not accept situations." Tom Brady
During this past week we've had a number of conversations regarding choice and a perceived lack of flexibility in options available. Not having control over the choices on offer led to frustration, as the preferred action or option wasn't on the path to achieve set goals. Yet when stepping back, it was apparent that this point had been reached based on the earlier choices that had been made.
We always have the ability to choose... whether it be to do the same thing or do something different, choosing how we react to situations. What then generally gets in our way is the fear of uncertainty in the outcomes we "may or may not" achieve. The belief that the worst case may happen can overpower the potential for a successful result.
Here are 3 tips to help you get back your freedom to choose:
My house = My rules - You know you better than anyone else. By valuing you and your time, you will be more determined to do those things that help you get towards your goals. Some may call it selfish...I choose to call it being focussed.
Accept you are where you are - to see all the choices available, we first must accept we are where we are right now. Not accepting our current state means we don't have a starting point. Accepting our current space means we can identify choices and decisions required to get us moving forward. Reset your compass and choose to move forward.
Have the conversation - unclear of the options and paths available to you due to a lack of certainty or direction, speak to someone you trust and respect to get guidance. Without this clarity, we will continue to be tied in to the options we see. Independent views or thoughts can open up more options and the freedom to choose.
When faced with a challenging decision or situation where you seem to be getting frustrated at the perceived "lack of possible options", apply these tips and see how the freedom to choose shifts.

Have an awesome week!
