Business coaching helps build quality habits

"To be successful you have to be selfish, or else you never achieve. And once you get to your highest level, then you have to be unselfish. Stay reachable. Stay in touch. Don't isolate".
Michael Jordan

The benefit of hindsight is a luxury afforded to those who have experience. Looking back over my years revolving around the sun, it's become obvious much of my career was spent making sure others were getting everything they needed. Choosing long hours in the office to ensure projects were completed perfectly, so others would be happy with my work, was my "normal". The fear of not being good enough was real...

Getting really clear on what WE want to achieve and what work means to us can be seen as being selfish... yet when we focus on what drives us and what matters to us - the team and you both win. Steven Covey identifies the "win win" scenario as one of the 7 habits of Highly Effective people.

So how can you shift your mindset to think win-win? Here are 3 tips:

  1. Align your strategy - being involved in the process of setting your goals and KPI's allows you to tie your performance to things that matter to you. Personal development targets, types of work and assuming additional responsibilities sees everyone win

  2. Focus on the process - having clear roles and responsibilities that tie to our goals, allows us to focus on the steps to take. If we choose to focus on the process, the results will take care of themselves

  3. Lead from within - by taking 100% ownership of our standards, our expectations and our direction, we are choosing to be our own leader. A team full of leaders means we have a highly motivated group looking to create success.

This week, take a look at where your effort is focussed and who ultimately benefits. If it's all about others getting what they want, have a conversation about tying your drivers to your performance.

Feel empowered to forward this on to those in your networks who will get value from our regular sharing. If you want help to have these conversations, send a note to the email below and we will help facilitate this.

Have an awesome week!

Cheers
