Setting strategies to grow is key….

Recently we facilitated a workshop focussed on the Customer Experience….breaking down the lifetime journey of a customer and their experience throughout. The business already runs a very successful operation, yet chose to review things to ensure they were delighting their customers every step of the way. 

Perceived value added was an item that came up, which is consistent with other other workshops. Your boss, your customers, your team members will all perceive value in differing ways. This shows through how easily we will take on work, buy that item or choose to eat that extra piece of cake. Tapping in to what influences others to see the value you add is key to getting buy in.

Here are 3 tips to help you manage the perception of value:  

  1. What problem are you solving for others – clarity on what the “customer” wants and why it matters to them, adding context, will allow you to see how much they will value your solution. Get clear on this and then deliver your solution!  

  2. Do your expectations have an impact – our expectations can get in the way of delivering value to others. Getting results for others may not be exceptional through your eyes, yet those who have benefitted from your work see how valuable it’s been. Remember….It’s about them not you!

  3. One Percent efforts (1%) matter – focussing on doing the little things well and often can create significant value. Consistently keep delivering small items of value and over time your perceived value to customers, boss, stakeholders will grow exponentially.

This week, ask yourself “Does my perception of value add match those of my stakeholders?”. Apply the tips above and see how it impacts the value those around you see.
