perspective

“The only thing you sometimes have control over is perspective. You don’t have control over your situation. But you have a choice about how you view it”. Chris Pine

Over the past week there’s been a lot happening. From running coaching workshops, helping others create change in their businesses, being there for others when they are under pressure from things they can’t control… it’s been challenging and time consuming. And to be totally honest, at times I’ve found myself getting wrapped up in the busyness and looking at ALL the things going on. Have you experienced this… it’s truly frustrating!

What has helped me has been getting perspective on those things that are true priorities. Looking at each day and the week and getting clear on what matters the most, helps me see what my priorities are and what will come first to achieve the result targets we set ourselves.

3 Tips for getting Perspective

Here are my three tips for you today:

  1. Use the 4 D’s – list everything on your plate at the moment and apply the following to each item…Do, Delegate, Delete or Delay. Using these, you will either get them off your plate now (Do, Delegate, Delete) or in the diary (Delay = get it in the diary)

  2. What really matters – we tend to build up a list of “stuff” that we think we need to do. When you step back and look at that list, how much of that do we really have to do? Get clear on how this “stuff” will help you reach your goals and set priorities.

  3. Focus Focus Focus – once you’ve applied the 4 D’s, set yourself targets to complete the tasks that remain. The steps to make them happen then become your focus and the action you take is geared towards making them happen.

So now knowing this, schedule time in to your calendar to apply the 4 D’s, prioritise what you will do and get taking action.
