Why roadmap your Company goals?
“Leaders must exemplify integrity and earn the trust of their teams through their everyday actions. When you do this, you set high standards for everyone at your company. And when you do so with positive energy and enthusiasm for shared goals and purpose, you can deeply connect with your team and customers”.
Marillyn Hewson
Twenty Four months ago these business owners set out on a journey. They were uncertain about what to expect, had no idea what they wanted, had little knowledge of what having a successful business felt like, no idea how they could create change. All they knew was that change was needed.
The first step in making this happen was to have them create a picture of what they wanted their business to be in two years. The setting of this future view gave them a plan to aspire to… something that was big enough to both scare and inspire them. This became the picture of what success looked like.
Here are 3 tips to help you create your roadmap and apply your company goals to this:
-
Be clear – getting clarity with what you want your business or career to be in 12 months has to be a non-negotiable. A clear direction allows you to be specific with the goals you set…
-
Keep it Simple – when we have too many things to aim for we can expect to struggle. Jack Ma, owner of Alibaba, says “If there are nine rabbits on the ground and you want to catch one, just focus on one.” Set no more than 5 goals for the year and make them count.
-
Tie the feeling of achievement to your goals – ask yourself “what feeling will achieving this goal give us?”. Making this connection will help associate the emotion with achievement… thus driving your desire to experience this feeling.
This week, ask yourself whether you are set up correctly regarding your goals. Are you clear what you want things to look like in 12 months, do you have max 3 – 5 goals, what does achieving these mean to you. Having all these sorted out will allow you to get on with making them happen.
Forward this to those you believe will benefit from reading it. If you feel this will help getting the best result for you and your teams… let’s chat about how we may be able to help.
Cheers
